Scholastic Book Club

January 2005

In December we earned $326.43 for the school to spend on books and materials (that adds up to $1067.61 since September 2004). We were also given an additional $30 worth of books as an added windfall (that adds up to $1067.61 since September 2004). That means that we have earned over $1262.60 for Lansing!

The teachers did some serious Holiday Shopping in December. Take a look at some of the things they bought for the school:

  1. The Polar Express
  2. Little Christmas Tree
  3. Mouse's First Christmas
  4. How Do Our Senses Work?
  5. Alphabet Bingo
  6. Rain Forest Floor Puzzle
  7. Link and Learn Links
  8. Snow
  9. What Santa Can't Do
  10. Photo Fun Activities Farm Animals
  11. Planets in Our Solar System
  12. Coral Reef Floor Puzzle
  13. Math Tub Topics
  14. Dream Snow
  15. Jumbo Stickers Bonus Box

  23. And many more...

The month of December was not kind to my family. We were sick for almost four weeks.  Four very long weeks.  And even though I relaxed the “NO TV” rule, by mid-morning we were all pretty bored.

Thankfully, I have been able to put together a fairly good library of books from Scholastic. So, while we were slumped over on the couch, we were able to leave the house (metaphorically, of course). We joined Frog and Toad on their many adventures, we laughed as Jan Brett's award winning Hedgie the hedgehog got stuck in a hat (SeeSaw #3 The Hat), we shared tea and yummy yums with a big brown bear (Elf #7 Hibernating Bears Pack), we counted with dinosaurs and learned about colours from a cat, we went on amazing adventures with the Magic School Bus (Elf #11 The Magic School Bus Winter Science Readers Pack), romped with the wild things, watched hungrily as a pig ate a pancake, a moose ate a muffin and a mouse ate a cookie (SeeSaw #45 If You Give A...Pack), saw 10 pigs get clean in the bath only to get dirty again, giggled as a cow click clack typed demanding notes to his farmer and grinned as Jillian Jiggs put on a surprise show for her sister's birthday (SeeSaw #26 Kindergarten Stories Pack), felt proud as Franklin learned to be a good friend (Elf #15 Franklin's Valentine Value Library), followed the escapades of Arthur and his friends (SeeSaw #48 Arthur Mega Collection), enjoyed some silly poetry (Lucky #45 Jack Prelutsky Poetry Pack) and solved some mysteries with Cam Jansen (Lucky #55 Cam Jansen Pack).

Thank you Scholastic!
