Free play encourages children to participate in activities building creativity, cognition, small and gross motor skills. Activities include art, puzzles, play dough, block building, sand, water and dramatic play.

Morning Meeting teaches children language, math and science skills through the creative use of stories, singing, making music and games.

Outdoor play includes free play in the sand pit, jungle gym and playhouses, or playing the various toys and games set up by the teachers. Talk to other parents, the teachers, or simply watch your child at play with friends.

"School home" away from home

I initially registered my little guy on the 3-day Nursery program as I was unsure how he would handle being away at school. My fears were completely unfounded. The caring Lansing teachers and parents create a "school home" away from home. Within a week, he couldn't wait to go to school every day. He even asked on weekends (though I suspect the extremely well-stocked train table had something to do with it!).
Even now that he has moved onto "Big Boy School", he still asks to go back to visit his teachers, which sums up everything you need to know about this special place!

Common Nursery Program FAQs

1. Nutrition
Daily snacks, including how much your child ate, are shared with parents daily through the Lillio.
The weekly snack schedule is also posted on the board in the Parents Room, for those who want to know the week's menu in advance. Read more about
Lansing's nutrition policy, which also includes answers to questions such as "What if my child has special dietary requirements?"

2. Duty days
Learn the answers to questions such as "What is a duty day?", "What does it involve?", How often would I have to do it?", and "Can a caregiver or grandparent do it on my behalf?" here.

3. Joining age
Children must be at least 2.5 years old when they join the program whether this is at the beginning of the school year in September, or later in the program if there are spaces available.

4. Communication with Parents
Lansing's Programs use the parent App call Lillio.  Educators will create daily reports that summarize what children did throughout the day, including activities, meals, naps, and general observations. Parents receive these reports in real-time, which helps keep them informed about their child's day.  It also serves as a communication tool so that important information can be shared easily, and questions can be answered promptly.
